It is the main centre for the treatment of people with mental health problems in Grampian.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.nhsgrampian.org/nhsgrampian/gra_display_simple_index.jsp?pContentID=409&p_applic=CCC&p_service=Content.show& )
The hospital is situated on Westburn Road, East of the Foresterhill site.
In 2013 the Health and Safety Executive issued an official warning that risk assessments at the Hospital for patients in danger of self harming were insufficient, after 3 suicides.
Part of the site is now derelict and is to be redeveloped for housing.
==History==

The hospital was founded in 1800 as the Aberdeen Lunatic Asylum. The city's dancing master, Francis Peacock, donated all the funds from the profits of his 1805 book on dancing to the asylum.
